The inside of a SG Roundhouse

Mike Miller sent me this neat pic of what it looks like to be in a Lionel roundhouse with an idling 408e. It's a rare shot and one with some serious imagination.

I remember (when I was much younger) seeing a fully refurbished GE Electric Loco and cars in Grand Central. The funny thing is that this 408e in a roundhouse looks about the same! Very cool.

The lights are on!

Ok, so who needed the light for the 408E? This is the Danbury Railway Museum this weekend (they did a mini-car show and a train show/ride).

I saw the middle lamp and was blown away at the similarity to the 408E stock lamp (and almost all of the prewar lamps on the trains).

Monster 408E

I was going through some old TTOS bulletins from 1978 and I saw this pic. The guy's name is Joe Goldwater and this is supposedly a "backyard 408e".

I just love this engine, I don't care what gauge it is.

Has anyone ever seen it? What happened to it? I'd love to see more standard gauge get big like this!

I wonder if there were any other engines made or rolling stock to go along with it? What gauge is the right of way?

I'd love to see this reviewed in CTT. "The drawbar pull is 85 pounds...."

;)
