NETTE Auction - June 14, 2008

The NETTE Auction is up for June 13th and 14th. The prewar stuff is all on the 14th, the postwar stuff is on the 13th and 14th as well.

They have some very unusual and rare sets in this auction (check out the Ives Empress Set to the left).

As always, there's some compelling classic standard gauge....

Oh yes, the auction is out on eBay live auctions. I don't think it is posted yet on NETTE's website.

Stout Auction is up!

Check out the new Stout Auction - it is out on their website. I noticed a couple of standout items.
The first item would be the #7. I strongly believe it could be a McCoy #7. That would make it rare by Postwar Standard Gauge standards. It's a nice loco too. I am partial to thin rim #7's myself. With these getting rarer and the casting aging, this may be a great loco. I'm pretty sure it isn't a Cohen and there weren't many other folks reproducing these.
The McCoy Circus set caught my eye as well. It says in the description no couplers are mounted on the cars. I know this is a McCoy Circus set and I know that McCoy shipped the set with couplers. So why no couplers on this set? McCoy collectors, maybe you can illuminate me!

Last but not least this little Marklin gem. It is standard gauge. It has some repro stuff on it as well as a new paintjob. Even still, does anyone know the history of this loco? What kind of set was it a part of? Is it standard gauge or #1 gauge?

More Pics and Labels

More imagery from the wonderful Indig auction at Maurer.

That bottom one is ridiculously nice. Seeing these pictures makes any criticism of this auction kind of moot. Just seeing the trains would be worth the trip!

I know a few are wondering what these little "labels" are under the articles in the Blog. This is one of those nice things that differentiates a computer generated magazine from the paper kind. These words are headers the authors give the articles they write. There are almost 900 articles in the Standard Gauge Blog. If you're like me, you see something you are interested in and if you're lucky, you remember it. More often than not we forget way too much of what we know or we think we have seen in the toy train world.

That's where the headers come in. They are tags for the Google database engine. Too technical? Let me whip out my techno weenie translator:

If you want to search for articles in the blog and have your results be accurate, these words help.

Now go get that tax return so you can buy some more trains!

New England Toy Train Exchange Auction on Aug 14, 2004 (Click to go there)

NETTE has an auction coming up on August 14. My experience with these folks has been extremely positive. Very honest, forthright and prices that consistently seem to reflect reality.

It's an auction, yes, but the prices aren't typically in the stratosphere.

There is a little standard gauge in this auction (it's mostly toys). I'd love to buy all the Buddy L trucks I see but this standard gauge needs pantloads of room!

Also, you may want to check out the NETTE auction coming up on September 4th. That's going to be the big train auction!
