Another Brute Convert...

My friend and train colleague Mike V. just received his new Brute. He purchased the Buddy L flavor of the Brute. Apparently there were fewer pre-orders for this flavor thus it is officially going on the "rare" or "medium rare" list. Whatever the case may be, it looks pretty damn good on Mike's mantle. This engine was a work of art when JLC commissioned it from Italy and it still looks great in 2010. The fact that some dealers have sold out of both versions says volumes.

The Brute Has Arrived!

Well, the Brute has arrived. As many of you know, I am not a "box saver". However the graphics for this box, well, seem to be just oustanding. I have to rank this right up there with any prewar box I've ever had. They are definitely getting saved after the Brute is removed. So what would everyone like to see on the Brute? Some pics of it running? Some pics of it crushing my layout? Some movies? What should I put up on the blog that everyone would like to see (besides me crashing my trains)?

New Brute Video from MTH

Use the link here to get to the new details and video about the Lionel Corp. Brute. This engine looks like a winner. It's a huge puller and the articulation is outstanding. It looks like this thing is really complete. I am betting that we really do see these delivered in November, 2009.

Go take a look and stop being so critical of MTH! I know everyone is going to want one of these when they hit the streets!

Brute Obsession?

Folks, I have seen what is amounting to hundreds of posts on the new offering of the Brute! It's getting obsessive and/or excessive. Yep, I know it is a free country.

But the product hasn't even hit the streets yet. It will either be outrageously successful or it will sit on dealer shelves until it is marked down and then resold on eBay with the claim by some idiot that it was a rare item only produced by MTH for one year. Either way, it will find a spot in many collections.

And it will provide many arguements once it is widely available. Is it consistent with the original? Does it pull well? Can it fit through a Hellgate Bridge or a 120L tunnel? Who the hell knows until they get out? Did the original Brute have Lionel Supermotors? What kind of sounds did MTH sample for the sound system? Does it need a 72 inch curve to run? Please, go easy on the posts. Isn't there something else we can talk about like what we'd like to see the new Lionel relationship produce next?
