Wooden Train

Yes, I know we are all slaves to the tinplate master. However when you see something like this, you just have to scratch your head and think "how did they do that"? Check out this youtube. I gotta tell ya, youtube is great, there is no way (in the olden days of magazines and static pictures) that you could have gotten a sense of how awesome these trains are. The boom crane is really amazing. And to have all of those little handmade switchers around.....

And all of that wooden track just blows me away. I know I scream when I have to go out to the trainstore to buy the metal stuff! I'll stop babbling, just check this out.

PS You may want to check out some of the other European beauties at Modelspoor 2010. They have an absolutely fantastic tinplate trolley layout with some truly amazing catenary.

Simplicity and Electricity

Just checking out the tinplate forums and I came upon this Youtube Gem. The author states his wonderful layout takes him right back to a simpler time (1938). I really like the design and execution of this layout. I could sit for a mighty long time just watching these trains roll around (and I do on my own layout).

Hope everyone is well this holiday season. Don't be bashful, send me some train pics!

Spring Windup

You have to check this out. This is some kind of festival in Denver, CO that celebrates wind up trains and toys. Go in about 2 minutes and 45 seconds. This is one of the best Youtubes I have seen in years...

Interesting way to run O gauge...

I have to hand it to Bluecomets, he's a hoot. He figured out a way to run O gauge track over standard gauge. Ultimately he's probably right, it is probably one of the best ways to run O gauge trains with standard gauge track. Check out the Youtube.

I am going to post a new Youtube this weekend of a very smooth running American Flyer original!

New Toy Train Idea....

I've often thought this might be a great adjunct to the Delker Helix. Check out this Youtube and let me know what 70 year old train might be capable of this feat!

Tom Sefton Layout in Youtube

I saw this wonderful Youtube posted from the messages on the Yahoo Group and I just had to post it. Standard Gauge doesn't get much better then this. Sacremento is going to be one of my stops in 2010!

Check out Pipes American Flyer Youtubes. Here is one (they are pretty darn neat). Try on HD and blow it up to full screen.

And another Youtube...

I know, you are all getting bored. Youtube is so huge and substantial (there's so much out there) that I figured if I post them, it's easier than sorting through them.

Another great video from Daveclarklumber!

Some Very Nice Youtube

And now a break from our regularly scheduled programming (because I am working on benchwork this weekend with my buddy Randall and I should have the beginnings of a layout by next week). Some cool Youtubes:

and here:

And some MTH gear making noise:

Kudos to Bluecomet 390 for some great vids!

C&F From Benjamin

Benjamin just posted a great Youtube video of his C&F Trolley making the paces. He is also working on a steam driven power generator to really run his trains! Check out the video plus others....

177 Scenic Railway

This little video has floated around for a while and I just saw it tonight. I love these little layouts, I wonder how many people use these are their main layout?

Youtube at the bottom...

I know, why is more Youtube at the bottom of the blog? I'm working on the HTML to integrate more video onto the blog. I like the video watcher on the right hand side and I'd like to integrate more video albeit a bit more cleanly. So if you'll pardon the clutter.....

Yes, this is a shot from my meager collection....

Happy Dad's Day!

Most of the day was spent with my kids listening to them make outrageous demands and me rejecting them as ludicrous.

Here's a nice video of the METCA show. I bet I know who's table this is (Joe Mania). I am very thankful someone posted some Youtube of this. With my trainroom in pieces, I need all the running visuals I can get.

We need some posters! Any ideas for articles?

Marc

PS with all of these nice trains around, someone has to have some pics of their layouts!

TCA Vision

The TCA just put up a really cool new web feature called "TCA Vision". It requires Flash 9.

I gotta say, every time I see a TCA or TTOS publication it makes me glad to be a member. They really are one of the best outlets for information and news in the toy train world.

This is the first attempt and it's a great one. There are some presentations from York, specifically the MTH/Mike Wolf session.

It's fun and I'd highly recommend watching! PS I think you should join too if you haven't already!

More Youtube Video....

What's not to love? A Vandy flying around AROSCOE's layout with lights and bells and crossing gates, the whole enchilada. You should give the author of this video some positive feedback on Youtube.

When I look at the Vandy I still think it is silly for Lionel not to make standard gauge. Sorry, I just had to say it. Maybe they should concentrate a little less on licensing their name to crap manufacturers (I just saw Lionel on a flashlight in a SPAM message I received from Publishers Clearing House) and a little more time inventing new and great trains. This Vandy supposedly didn't sell well yet they are in demand on the after market and are almost always white hot on eBay.

Four Trains Running!

Happy New Year to all! I've been having a good deal of fun playing with my new MTH Blue Comet set. Here's a video of it running with my other three loops in operation. It makes for quite a bit of standard gauge action and sound!
