largest poured concrete bridge....

Ok, again, not much to do with trains except that everyone loves a cool prototype bridge. So....

For those of you that want to be very proud of American ingenuity - I give you a new bridge, right by the Hoover Dam, that is the largest poured concrete bridge in the world. To see this thing in person is amazing.

Way Uptown

I was way uptown in NYC last week driving around and I just saw this and had to snap a shot. Real life sometimes trumps models!!

Check out this cool bridge kit I found on Ebay!

The link to these bridges is above. Apparently these are sold as kits and they can be painted to whatever color you like. I am betting these can handle standard gauge track. I love bridges, they are my favorite part of ANY layout. The arched bridge is exactly like a bridge that goes over the Croton Reservoir in New York State. Absolutely gorgeous rendition. Check them out. Pricing is completely reasonable as well.

Dave's Bridge

Dave sent some unbelievable pics of the bridge he built. Really, this thing is amazing. Dave, can you shoot us some vital stats on this: how much did it cost, how long did it take to build, how much does it weigh?
Also, the Pride Lines Voltamp Interurban running on it is a one of a kind paint sample. The bridge is truly spectacular and goes to show that not all layout challenges in standard gauge has been conquered yet. Not even close.

100 Year Bridge Co

Check this out!  For those of you that have been waiting for a lift bridge for standard gauge...  Go out and check out 100 Year Bridge Co's website.  They make great products and the prices are 100% reasonable.   Check out that new monster bridge at the bottom.  Finally a bridge with a TON of space to play with.  I think I could even run some of those standard gauge race cars across that sucker!

A Great American Flyer Wide Gauge Bridge

I've wanted to own the spectacular American Flyer Standard guage No. 4220 Lighted Trestel Bridge for about as long as I've been collecting Standard gauge trains. They come up on EBAY from time to time but I have never won an auction for one. I passed up one at the Allentown semi-annual show a few years ago and I've been kicking myself ever since. This past weekend in Allentown some guys had this beauty on their table along with the smaller 0 gauge "Salt Lake" bridge and so I bought them both - for $140.. The price was right, that's for sure! The 4220 has both original light castings which are soldered to several sections of original AF track. The telegraph poles are gone, but that's an easy replacement from Trickel cast parts. The bridge is so long that it can hold three AF "Lone Scout" cars on its span! Talk about an impressive accessory!
