You are absolutely correct. MTH has the tooling for the 390E and my post is chiding them to make a new flavor of it with Protosound 2.0 and different colors.
The 390E is one of the nicest and most flexible prewar pullers in standard gauge.
Mikes has all of the original Lionel items nailed down. But I am getting tired of all of the same old designs coming out over and over again. Can't anyone do something original anymore? There are plenty of original vintage Lionel Standard out there either in original excellent condition, or restorable condition. I refused to pay for any new MTH knock off of something he essentially stole from Lionel. I bought either excellent originals, or basket case original vinatge Lionels and restored them to perfection. The only thing I see MTH is contibuting is nice repro parts for the restoration people. But even that is changing as they are modifying the parts so they are no longer like the originals in some cases.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think MTH has made a 390 since the Lionel Classics era.
