What the?

I just saw some of the prices people are asking on eBay.  They still are looking at the books and thinking that  mint in the box for reproductions gets full/list price!  Or that a trashed mess is still worth mint in box/full price!  People, people, people...  Really?  Do you think anyone is really going to buy that MTH 384e for $750?  Are you kidding?  Sheesh.

Marc-sometimes people post things to ebay without really wanting to sell them but on the oft chance that they might hook that stupid fish who doens't know any better. A JAD Hiawatha for $4,250? Really?

I couldn't agree more! Or how about the guy that keeps posting a slightly used/defective MTH Super 381e set for $2900? I could go on and on. It seems like ebay breaks down into three camps: Reality prices (seldom), total distortion (often), middle of the road (few and far between). Not a great replacement for train shows and/or personal interaction, that's for sure!

My guess is the guy with the super 381 is trying to make a statement. Also I think he is gearing up for legal action showing the piece is not worth what he paid

I see the other JAD Hiawatha sold for around 760. Common sense would seem to tell you, if you have an item that's worth 3 or 400 dollars, and you have it listed at 900, and run that listing for a year or more, I know of at least two, and you get no bids or no questions about the item, you must be WAY TO HIGH. Way do some of these guys do this? Doesn't it cost them something to run the sale?
