PA 384 from MTH

This is just a nice engine, no two ways about it. Funny thing is I have much larger engines with all kinds of features but for some reason I still always seem to love the 390's and 384's. They are just easy and fun toys.

Marc,

Thanks so much for posting pictures of the Pennsy set. I have this set on order (along with the extra car), and I've been anxious to see what it's going to look like! It looks absolutely beautiful. Now, if it just gets here before Christmas so I can run it under the tree!

FWIW, I've noted your concern about having your email address posted on this blog. As long as you keep it hidden in a link (like you did a few entries back), you shouldn't have any problems with spam. I've had my email address displayed this way on my own blog, and in over two years I've never had a problem with junk mail. Zero. Zip. Nada.

You have a great blog here. Keep it going, and Season's Greetings!

Thanks Clint! Please keep your blog rolling as well. Would love to see some of your standard gauge pics from Christmas on your blog; I'd be glad to post links to it to get the traffic up.

By the way, you asked "why blog" on your blog. I think it's important to have an outlet for your thoughts. Trust me, if you close your Blog, you'll still need a place to go to post what's rumbling around in your noggin.

By the way, if you want to see what happens when good thoughts go bad, check out the AOL boards (train boards specifically). It's what happens when people pent up thoughts and feelings and have nowhere to adequately express them. Lots of bile on those boards and the thoughts aint pretty. And worse, the unpretty thoughts usually have zero to do with toys, trains and so on.

I've never been on the AOL board, but I've heard a lot about it (none of it good). I lurk from time to time on the OGR board, but my main hangout is over on the CTT forums. I recently bumped a Standard gauge thread back up to the top over there. The way I see it, the more we spread the word about this particular aspect of the hobby, the more people will get involved, and the better it will be for the future of Standard gauge. I'm just glad that Mike Wolf is continuing forward with the production of these trains! I know a lot of people don't like the guy, but without him I'm afraid the resurrection of these trains would be stalled in it's tracks (so to speak). So I say kudos to Mr. Wolf.

As far as my blog is concerned, it's not so much the lack of traffic as it is the fact that I'm just tired of messing with it. There is quite a long story behind my starting the thing to begin with, but I'm not going into that here.

Merry Christmas!

By the way, I read recently that the Standard gauge tooling that Mike Wolf bought from Jerry Williams back in the '80s was the same tooling that Williams bought when Lionel auctioned off a lot of it's old stuff at the end of the original Lionel Corp. in the late '60s. Do you know anything about this? Is it possible that MTH is still using some of the original Lionel tooling for it's Standard gauge items?
